Jennifer is the MommyTeacherFashionista on social media, and we talk all about her amazing influence on social media as well. Jennifer is a fun, focused and fantastic educator! She is one of my favorite EDU follows on social media. Her content is always so relevant, helpful and fun. I think she is super cool and inspiring, and I love her book Educate the Heart. Jennifer Lee Quattrucci is an aspiring principal, and a K-12 educator in the inner city of Providence, Rhode Island for the past 26 years. She is a relentless advocate of equity, inclusion, and authenticity being taught at an early age. Jennifer’s passion is seen in her deep commitment to creating, researching, and sharing educational experiences that support the social emotional well-being of children. Jennifer is also the author of the best selling book, Educate the Heart: Screen-Free Activities for Grades PreK-6 to Inspire Authentic Learning available online at both Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

An Interview with Kris Felicello

In this episode of The Wired Educator Podcast, I interview Kris Felicello, co-author of The Teacher and The Admin: Making Schools Better for Kids. Kris has such rich and diverse experiences in educational leadership experiences. He is brilliant and a lot of fun. You will love our conversation.

Dr. Kris Felicello has been in the field of education for over 25 years as a Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, and he is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the North Rockland Central School District in Rockland County, New York.  Kris obtained his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from St. John’s University in 2011.

Dr. Felicello is a leader who wants to make schools a better place for students.  He firmly believes that it is essential to build relationships and foster students’ social-emotional development to ensure a positive and productive educational experience for all students.  Throughout his career, Dr. Felicello has embraced technology as a means to improve schools, however, he cautions that technology should be utilized only when it supports positive instructional practices.

Dr. Felicello is a presenter, TEDx speaker, and co-author of the best selling educational book The Teacher and The Admin: Making Schools Better for Kids.  Kris and his writing partner Gary Armidia are the founders of The Teacher and The Admin Blog.  Kris has also served as an adjunct professor, professional development leader, and continues to be a student of the latest trends in education.

Although Dr. Felicello is passionate about his career and improving our education system, his first priority is his family.  He enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Rebecca and 3 sons Justin (19), Andrew (17), and Scott (15).

WEP 117: Metacognition & Instruction, an Interview with Dr. Matthew Stoltzfus from The Ohio State University

In this episode of the Wired Educator Podcast, Kelly interviews Dr. Matthew W. Stoltzfus, a professor of Chemistry at The Ohio State University.  Matthew and Kelly talk about a wide range of topics including: metacognition and instruction, the Digital Flagship Initiative at OSU, the importance of students learning how to use a textbook, higher standards, culture, Focus 3, helping students become elite, the silo effect, and so much more! You are going to love it. This is a great interview. 

Matthew W. Stoltzfus, or “Dr. Fus” to his students, is an accomplished chemistry Lecturer at The Ohio State University, where he teaches large lecture sections of general chemistry. His flipped classroom approach, which has evolved over the years to focus on peer instruction, has been featured on ESPN and NPR mainly due to his iTunesU General Chemistry course, which has an enrollment of over 210,000 students.

He is also a contributing author to the “Chemistry the Central Science” textbook, is a recent recipient of The Ohio State University Provost’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer and is an Apple Distinguished Educator (Class of 2013). Follow him on Twitter: @Dr_Fus
