In this is the Wired Educator Podcast, I  interview Stephen Cox, the Founder and CEO of the United Kingdom’s leading teacher training provider, Osiris, and host of the World Education Summit. He’s an expert in visible learning and works closely with John Hattie. Stephen is the host of the World Education Summit which I encourage you to sign up for right now. Here’s the link worldedsummit.com.   It is a virtual summit from March 22 to March 25, but you will want to hit that link right now and sign up. It’s that good. John Hattie, author of Visible Learning and one of the most important minds in education is their keynote speaker, and there are over 400 other amazing presenters. This is the virtual summit you’re looking for. Period. I’m not kidding. Hit the link, take a look at who’s there and you will want in. It’s amazing.

Stephen Cox is the founder and CEO of Osiris Educational, the UK’s leading independent teacher training provider, and the host of The World Education Virtual Summit. For the last quarter of a century, he has worked with the world’s top educationalists to bring pioneering and innovative training to teachers and leaders across the U.K and throughout schools around the world. During this time, he has developed and supported award-winning educational programmes including: the Osiris Teaching Intervention, Collective Leadership and Visible Learning. His latest cutting-edge mission is centred on creating worldwide online systems for teacher and learning development.

In response to the disruption caused to worldwide education by COVID-19, Stephen has re-focused on creating sustainable, online, interactive networks and programmes for teacher and leader development. He is continually driven by his belief that all learners deserve a great start in life, and this is achieved through an unrelenting focus on the quality and impact of teaching and learning.

I am honored to share Stephens Bryant’s with you in this amazing conversation. Here’s Stephan Cox

Professional Summary:

Fresh out of a PGCE in Secondary education from the University of Warwick, Stephen taught economics for ten years in the UK and at the British International School, Cairo (BISC). Dissatisfied with the quality of teacher training that he was receiving, Stephen moved back to the UK in 1997 and founded Osiris Educational with the 30-year vision of improving the life chances of children across the world.

Osiris had humble beginnings, with Stephen and his partner Brenda developing and delivering their own training, based off their own expertise at quality provision. Over the years, Osiris quickly grew to become the nation’s leading independent provider of teacher training, with the world’s greatest educationalists in collaboration.

During this time, Stephen worked closely with such world-renowned educationalists as Professor John Hattie, Professor Guy Claxton, Professor Carol Dweck and many others on developing and releasing now world-famous programmes for teachers in the UK, including Visible LearningPlus, the Osiris Mindsets Programme, and the Osiris Teaching Intervention.

In this episode Knikole Taylor and I talk about personalized professional learning, giving teachers a voice, meeting with every teacher, becoming a barrier remover for teachers, and getting excited about the lessons that you’re planning and how you will teach it! Nichole Taylor encourages the use of badging for professional learning and we have some powerful conversations about the state of education in these challenging times.

Click this link to listen to my interview with Knikole.

As the Director of Innovation and Instruction for my school district, I am always looking for ways to help educators but I don’t want to interfere with all the work they’re trying to do. Sometimes it’s like walking a tight rope between professional learning and the work they have to do each and every day. I want to support them and help them, but sometimes it is difficult to find a way into a teacher’s busy day, and the last thing I want to do is create more work for them. Well, Knikole gave me some great ideas on how to personalize professional learning for teachers in my district. I think it’s something that you’ll be able to use too. We go to many important areas in education. As well. You’re gonna love this interview,

It was a great week to be the wired educator! I have two other great interviews coming at you. I have an interview with Josh Stamper from the Teach Better Team. We have an incredible conversation about trauma-informed practices in education as well as restorative practices, I also had a great interview with Hines Apple and his new book titled Award-Winning Culture. These two interviews will be coming to you soon.

Knikole Taylor serves as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for a school district in Texas.  In this role, she supports the growth and development of teachers and students through the seamless integration of innovative technology usage. Through personalized support, Mrs. Taylor works with teachers and teacher leaders to craft professional goals to extend their scope of instruction and meet the needs of all learners.

Knikole is a professional development trainer, curriculum developer, author, and speaker, who has been privileged to travel the world to speak and work with other educators at conferences, campuses, and district-wide events.  It is her firm belief that anyone can succeed with tailored support. Knikole works with 12 educators in being their best for the students and teachers they serve each day.

WEP 151: Resolutions Every Educator Should Make for 2020

In this episode of The Wired Educator Podcast, I share 20 resolutions for 2020 that I believe will help every educator, administrator, and school district to level-up and impact lives. This episode is based on a blog post I share every year on www.WiredEducator.com on New Year’s Day. I hope you enjoy it. I would love to read your EDU Resolutions for 2020.

Educators are my favorite species. They not only work incredibly hard all hours of the day to make an impact in the lives of those they teach, they are also constantly working to improve themselves as well.

Each year I taught, I wanted to make my classroom, lessons, and engagement better. I was always trying to level-up. I still am. I made resolutions each school year and again at the start of the new year. I love those imaginary reset buttons! I shared my resolutions each year with my students and hung them on the classroom wall. Why? Because I knew my students would hold me accountable. And boy did they! I didn’t hit them all, but I hit more than I would have if I didn’t share them.

This podcast episode contains 20 Resolutions I believe will help you and your school level-up and make an even greater impact.

Which resolutions challenge you? Which ones are you crushing?

Leave your EDU resolutions in the comments.
